Don't know if I should drop out

I am currently studying robotics engineering at QMUL. Due to negative implications in my personal life I did not do well in my first year and have been notified that my course has been changed to an unaccredited robotics engineering course. I am wondering how severe this is, if I get a good grade in second and third year will I be able to find opportunities with an unaccredited 1st or 2:1 degree?

My options are to:

A) Withdraw from my studies and to start uni again in 2025

B) Continue on my course and pursue a Msc to bring myself up to level

Hi @kail225

Sorry to hear about this.
Accreditation is important for meeting industry standards, but it’s not always essential for securing opportunities. If you continue on your current unaccredited course and achieve a 1st or 2:1, combined with relevant experience, you can still find good career options, especially if you pursue an MSc to strengthen your qualifications. Withdrawing and starting fresh in 2025 on an accredited course ensures a recognized degree but delays your career. Ultimately, doing well in the second and third years and gaining practical experience are key to future opportunities, regardless of accreditation.
