Do lecture halls have enough space to use exercise books (ones from secondary school)

I've heard how little space university lectures halls have in the UK. I wanted to ask if they have enough space to use those stapled exercise books (kinda like the exercise books from secondary school), or would i have to resort to buying spiral notebooks that i can fold back? I don't want to buy the spiral books since they're alot more expensive than the staple books, but i also don't want to be an inconvenience to to other people. I know if i have to, i can just fold the exercise books back, but i feel like that would damage the exercise books (although i've never tried it before)

Most people use A4 size notebooks - and there is usually plenty of room so I'm not sure where you got this information from.

Hi!
While lecture hall desks are definitely smaller than the desks used in schools, there is plenty of room for exercise books such as these. This will be no problem.

Hope this helps! Faye 🙂

Hi there Muhammad,

I would say you have absolutely nothing to worry about space-wise. When I was at uni there was plenty of space for everyone's notemaking resources. If exercise books are your preferred method of taking notes then you really shouldn't have a problem. If I were you however I'd consider bringing in a laptop or tablet if you own one as this may be a more efficient way of taking down notes for more wordy subjects.

I hope this helps, best of luck this year!

But i'd like to ask if alot of people have those books that fold inwards (like the spiral notebooks) or just normal school exercise books (that don't fold inwards). I really don't want to spend the extra money on a spiral notebook.
I can't remember anyone using 'school exercise books'.
And why don't you wait until you get here. see what space you have at that Uni and then buy notebooks here?

I use spiral books sometimes and I like having it unfolded - it kinda hangs off the edge depending on the lecture hall but usually you are only writing on one side anyway so there's not much issue - anyway don't worry about it, the lecture hall I go to each table is disconnected and most people use laptops/tablets anyway and I've seen others use exercise books.
