Edinburgh vs Newcastle biochemistry

hi, I'm a Japanese student considering studying biochemistry in England.
I'm looking at Edinburgh and Newcastle, but I'm not sure which to choose for my first pick.
Can anyone give me any opinions, like the atmosphere there, etc?
Also, it'll be helpful if you could recommend some other universities.
Thanks!
Pharmacology student at Newcastle - idk much about Edinburgh.

So at Newcastle, CURRENTLY, the Biomedical Sciences degrees have a common Stage 1. This includes Biochem, Genetics, Pharmacology, Physiology and Biomedical Sciences. You kind of learn a bit about each degree and then decide which degree you want to stick with.

Sem 1 of second year is similar but there's some branching off (e.g., biochem and genetics share one module, pharmacology and physiology share one and biomed do their own thing)

Then you focus on ONLY your degree in Sem 2 of Stage 2 until the end of your degree.

I've really enjoyed my time at Newcastle so far - the Biomedical Sciences community is incredible, in my year there's around 360 of us, but there's 400 in the year below mine. There's such a diverse range of people too. Staff are amazing, and so helpful!

Like I said this is how it works currently, the course could potentially change over the next few years - who knows. But what I will say is Newcastle is a lovely place to be, and it's filled with so many incredible people - best of luck!!
