OXFORD HAT Issues

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone else is having issues sitting the HAT. I am at my local test centre snd it seems as though there is a technical issue on Pearsons side of things which isn’t allowing us to sit the paper. They told us this will be rescheduled although how can a singular exam with one question be rescheduled, would it be changed? I heard that people in Belgium are suffering with the same issues. Are there any Oxford History candidates who are willing to respond!

I am from Germany and I had no issues. Sorry if this doesn't help so much!

Its fine, I plan on waiting at the Test Centre until everything gets fixed because this is not an exam which can be rescheduled.

No technical issues. May just be your test centre.

I can’t imagine they can let you sit the same test as everyone else now. Last year when Oxford had problems they just cancelled for the day and then said it wouldn’t be held against whoever couldn’t sit the test.

If you think about it. You’re currently on the internet. There were people walking out by 9 am having done the test already. There’s no way you can sit the same test. Maybe they have a backup test for this.

This has happened to me as well! Does anyone know if we’re supposed to contact Pearson vue or Oxford or anyone? I don’t know what to do from here?

I did have a phone call with Pearson who seemed to think I would get an email, but heard nothing yet and any emails I try to send won’t go through to them! How can I contact my college? I also saw someone say they had completed a special consideration form, so should I be doing that?

My friends who had been online all morning went back in and sat the test at 11:30 am. Compare that to someone who sat it at 8am. Not a fair test.

That's really unfair! I also don't see how they can reschedule us for a different day because that just gives more opportunities for people to find out what the source was about. I'm really lost with what to do at the moment.

You clearly don't understand how the test works. When booking the test back in August, there were time slots available across the day (all on the 21st). The test is designed to be taken at staggered times. Since we sign NDAs, I assume Oxford expect no one to reveal details about the test to those whose time slots are later in the day. You would know this if you had booked the HAT, as we were able to select time slots ourselves, so I have no idea why you are commenting on posts about a test you are not taking.

I’m sorry. Did I not say. I sat the test at 8am. I wasn’t allowed to choose the time. I wasn’t aware that the times were staggered no. I will tell you that some of my friends told their parents. That’s natural. So what happens to the parent that tells another parent who tells their child or their niece etc. you can’t honestly tell me that this isn’t open to cheating? It’s not a fair test. There were people on here asking if anyone was willing to share. It’s ridiculous. And when the stakes are this high it’s just poor organisation.

I have no idea why you weren't allowed to choose the time. Every single other person I've spoken to was able to choose. If you think it's so unfair, maybe you should complain to Oxford. Obviously it's not the most fair system in the world, but everyone else has just got on with it. There are some things in life that are just unfair, you have to just learn to accept that as you grow up. There is no use in complaining.
I also seriously doubt that anyone has been put in a significantly better position than you just because they took the test a few hours later. It's mostly about the way you write and what you personally gather from the source. Knowing what the topic is beforehand can only help you so much. I seriously urge you to come to terms with the fact that life isn't always fair.

Nope I was at a centre in Manchester and it was down from around 9-11. A member of staff told us they were having problems in centres across the country.
