tuition fees

Hello,

I wonder if you could give me some advice about my situation.

I am 34, Italian but I have been living in England for the last 10 years. I have a settlement status. I took a nursing degree in Italy (qualified in 2015), then moved to the UK where I have been working as a nurse in the NHS since.

I am thinking to get back to education and I would like to get another degree (either bioscience or medical school).

Do you think I could qualify for a tuition fees loan? And in terms of cost of living, I live with my partner and have a mortgage - what type of support is out there?

I am just trying to understand if it is financially realistic for me to start a full time degree or not.

Thanks

Hi there,

What type of degree is it you hold?

Can you please confirm what courses you're looking to do so we can confirm the eligibility and the mode of study? I.E Full Time or Part Time?

Thanks,
Ross

Hi Ross,

I have a nursing degree (Italy, 3 years course 2012-2015) and I am thinking of applying to:

bioscience (university of Brighton) full time

medicine (university of Brighton) full time

Thank you. Would these be 4 year undergraduate courses you're looking to take or is it a graduate entry course? Thanks, Jason

It would be an undergraduate so it would be 4 years for medicine or 3 years for bioscience

If you hold a degree then you are entitled to maintenance loan only for the first 4 years of the course. In the 5th year and any subsequent years of their course you are entitled to an income-assessed NHS bursary and, therefore, we award the reduced rate of maintenance loan only. Thanks, Jason
