Hey, I am in year 13 with predicted AAA in Biology,Chemistry and psychology looking to study biology at university.
The only choices i have put down is Manchester and UCL, but im debating on whether adding Imperial or not since im not sure my grade profile is sufficient, my gcse average is 7.1. I am also looking at bristol and warwick potentially leeds.

Hi there Pablo,

Great to see you're thinking seriously about your course choices already!

I would say that, if you have looked at Imperial's course in detail and you think you like the sound of it as well as UCL and Manchester's, then theres absolutely nothing stopping you applying to see if you get an offer! They ask at the time of writing for AAA and so theres no reason why you couldn't make a competitive application if you put in a good personal statement.

In general its wise to have

1-2 aspirational Unis with grades at or a tad above you're predicted - UCL, Imperial, Manchester, Bristol, and Warwick are all good examples of this.

2-3 realistic choices - with grades around about what you're predicted (it looks like you have a few already)

1 insurance choice - with grades one or two grades below what you're predicted. Leeds (and Bath if interested!) with their AAB might be a good choice for this one if you're 100% happy you'd want to go there. This is to give you a safety net just in case things don't go to plan on results day.

I would say the main thing to look at is the course content. Evaluate whether the modules spark your interest, whether you think you'd enjoy them and if they'd help you towards any career aspirations you have. I'd also recommend visiting the unis too, if you're able as this is also an important factor to consider. Just remember, this is our future and you are the best judge of what feels right for you.

I hope this helped a bit, very best of luck this year!
