According to The Uni Guide, there's not much to choose between them in terms of salary. However, a higher proportion of Edinburgh Napier graduates actually go on to work as engineering professionals, in a role where their degree is essential or beneficial. That might suggest that Edinburgh Napier has a better careers service.

Six months after having graduate with Civil Engineering BEng (Hons) from Heriot-Watt University, only 72% are "engineering professionals" with 84% saying that they are "employed in a role where degree was essential or beneficial". At that point, the average salary of £25,500; by the fifth year after having graduated, median earnings are £35,000. (See here for source data.)

Six months after having graduated with Civil Engineering BEng (Hons) from Edinburgh Napier University, 86% are "engineering professionals" with 93% saying that they are "employed in a role where degree was essential or beneficial". At that point, the average salary is £26,000; by the fifth year after having graduated, median earnings are £34,000. (See here for source data.)

I have no information to offer in terms of "practical aspects" (whatever that means) and travel abroad.

In other words, it's not something I have any knowledge of. Sorry.
