Hi folks,

At our flat we organised a small haloween party. My flatmates from politics and international relations dressed up as zombie politicians, and the others were a black cat, a ghost with a sheet over her head, and a chicken. I just wore my normal clothes and makeup because as a heavy metal fan I already looked like the part for haloween!

We bought and carved a pumpkin, played music, cooked together, played card games before some of us headed out to town, and those who didn't want to stayed and played more card games! I know that haloween is not part of everyone's culture and some people feel isolated when it comes to celebration days, especially if you have found it hard to connect with people. I feel extremely lucky to have been with a group of flatmates who were open to the idea of doing something special together, and I'd strongly encourage you to make the first move in getting people together as it could end up being a really positive experience!

Its definitely worth trying to get a few of your coursemates or flatmates together to do something at haloween. Even if its really low-key, such as going for a drink at the SU, having a games or film night or a group cookery sesh. Its a great excuse to do something fun together, and I found it really helped me get to know my flatmates more.

Happy haloween everybody!

Hi there,

I love Halloween so I thought I would share my plans too!

Me and my housemates painted mini pumpkins the other evening which was really fun and we also wanted a Halloween film. I love anything creative like this so I really enjoyed doing this. In other years we have carved pumpkins too but we wanted a change this year and thought this would be a nice thing to do.

We are also going to have a house party this weekend which is fun as we are going to all invite our friends so there will be quite a few of us and we are dressing up!

We are also going to go out on halloween evening with a few of our other friends and have some drinks and games before we go out. I really like doing this with my housemates and our friends and it often ends up being my favourite part of the night.

Like Holly said, I know not everybody celebrates Halloween but even just having a games night can be fun and it doesn't have to be related to Halloween! Or, it can be a good opportunity to cook with your flatmates or have a night in, or go out for dinner!

It's also worth looking to see if your SU puts any events on as sometimes they will do things like this for holidays and other occasions so if you don't have any plans then have a look and see if there is something fun that you want to join in with here!

Happy Halloween!
