Foundation year for cognitive neuroscience and psychology

Hi, I’m a student in year 13 wanting to study neurological aspects of psychology at uni but I’ve recently found out that i need more science a levels than just psychology as i do psychology, business and English language as i just chose a levels that i thought i would enjoy at gcse level without really thinking about university at the time but now I’m starting to regret it as i think i may have to do a foundation year before progressing into the degree which isn’t a huge issue I’m just looking for more information and advice on it as I’m more of an academic and not really thinking about apprenticeships, any sort of advice would be helpful. Thank you!!

Omg i am in the exact same problem right now. Iv done Psychology, sociology and philosophy with a 5 in maths and 54 in science. Even with my predicted grades being above my targets I'm still sceptical of entry. Iv looked into foundation years too but I don't know how that would work, I would suggest calling the universities because I'm pretty sure foundation years are for mature students, however its not a bad idea to check. What my plan is to apply to all my uni choices and if I don't get into any I'm going to retake maths GCSE in my gap year. Id recommend focusing on your personal statement and trying to submit it earlier on. I get it its so annoying because no one really knows what they want to pursue at 16, there should be more sources aimed at helping students pick the right option. I really hope you get into the unis you want, and if you do find out about foundation years lmk, What unis are you thinking of applying to?.

Also there are schools that consider psychology as a science so psychology only will be okay, however for more competitive ones its unlikely they will be consider, unless you have good GCSEs.

I think Liverpool considered psychology but i was looking for more the neuroscience side of psychology as i’ve heard that pure psychology is extremely social based and that’s like my least favourite part of it aha and i’m more interested in the biological aspects.
