How useful are flashcards actually??

Trying out a range of revision techniques before my December mocks and although I like flashcards I'm not sure if they actually can get me 9s in my subjects (particularly for triple science)
I got 7/8/9s in my mocks but that was just from cramming which ideally I don't want to replicate
If you got 9s in GCSEs or are predicted them do flashcards help you?
Thanks
I got 9999998886A at gcse and would definitely recommend flashcards. I used them for:

English lit- got a 9. Made and used them for quotation cards plus poetry ones, very very helpful!

Sciences- got 998 on triple. I found cards and used them. They were very helpful for continual revision so i recommend doing that if they help you

History and Politics- got 8 and 9. Literally my main way of revising and a lifesaver!

Spanish- got an 8. Used for tenses, vocab and some model answers which was very important ofc for my revision.

Also, im making flashcards as I go for a level and finding them exceptionally useful for sciences! I recommend StudySmarter if you haven’t tried it already 🙂

Hi, yes flashcards are the way I got a 9 in AQA RS & OCR CS which I did last year in year 10 as early entries where and I did self-study for them. I have to say the sole reason for my 9 was my flashcards. However, not all flashcards are useful. Flashcards are really only useful for CONTENT-HEAVY SUBJECTS (eg CS, RS, Science, Geography) as all they require is for you to UNDERSTAND & REMEMBER a load of stuff. Thus for these subjects you need to use their exam board to find their SPECIFICATION and make revision notes that answer EVERY POINT on the spec. THEN you put all you revision notes into flashcards. I would highly recommend ANKI as the go-to flashcard app ( https://apps.ankiweb.net/ ). Once you get used to it you will definitely see the changes grade-wise. With flashcards you have to be memorising your notes that follow the spec. This way you know you have memorised everything so are prepared for any question. Come mocks/exams you will not be stressing as you have all the stuff memorised.
If you need any help in CS/RS feel free to ask any more questions. 🙂 .

I solely used flashcards for my sciences for my GCSES (2024), and I got 9's in all 3 sciences. I'd recommend making them on Anki. Personally, I used the specification to make sure I was covering everything I could be tested on, alongside savemyexams and my notes. (IMO cgp guides are okay, but they didn't cover the spec in as much detail as I wanted).

Overall, I would definitely use flashcards - idk what I'd do without them. I'm using them right now for A-Levels (Bio, Chem, Math, FM) and I achieved A*A*A*A in my first exams, so they're still helpful even now. I'd recommend making them as you go, since I started making my flashcards very late (like a month or two before exams). If you need any help lmk!

Same thing mever touched a flashcard in my life and got 9s in eng lang, lit, history, maths, Spanish, triple science so bio, chem and psyc and 8 in art and computer science. Feel like if your short on time just skip to practice questions and blurting (or any other form of active recall) personally I feel like im rewriting notes but on a flshcars and am inconsistent if i do make em so - probably use the in uni though yeah
