Is this safe?

Hi

My mum had issues with her Barclays account today so needed to phone them to sort it out so she phoned the number on the website and when she got through to someone he asked for her full name , account number and sort code and then for security asked her mother's maiden name she gave these details and then afterwards someone said scammers ask for those details so now she's worried but she phoned them up and it was a legit number that's on her statements and on there website. So is it normal to ask for her account number ect?
All pretty standard for a bank, sort code and account number is virtually public it’s what you give to anyone when you want to be paid (people can’t take money out of your account with it). Banks will often ask a security answer to verify it is you and not a scammer.

As long as she didn’t go through any email link and did search the bank and clicked the link on their website she should be absolutely fine

It’s fine as she used a confirmed phone number. And this standard account identification information too
Yes, all normal when calling the number from the bank’s website. Sometimes you have to key these details in before the menu will put you through to a human.

Is your reply trying to say that she may have called a scammer? She phoned the number on her statements and on there website
