What would you normally do if you were ill or had a health concern?

Pretty sure they mean go to the doctor - which is exactly what you should do.
It is most likely just an accumulation of wax, nothing serious.

I would go to a GP if I were you.

Assuming you don't have a broken ear drum and that your outer ear canal is therefore a cul de sac.
Put some olive oil in the affected ear. A few drops every day for a week or two.
You can buy empty little pipette bottles online or from chemists. Olive oil from supermarkets.

There's the saying "Don't put anything smaller than your elbow into your ear"

See if the olive oil softens your ear wax enough for it to come out naturally.

You are of course welcome to see your GP any time about this.

Probably plugged ear or ear infection.
You can put eardrops or olive oil (olive oil won't help in case of infection, but it won't harm either).
Best thing is to visit a GP to see it's not infected.
