Uni Transfer HELP!

Hi everyone so i’m currently in my second year of uni studying chem eng but i’ve found that i was not that happy with my flat last year but we became friends and living together again this year they’ve just been completely horrible to me… i have some other friends at uni which are nice but not anyone i’m super close to. My course as well is not 100% relevant and is undergoing renovations after next year from how difficult it is and people are failing too often and i’m just worried and there’s a lot of pressure… I have been thinking about transferring since last year and i probably should have done it but i didn’t so here i am… I don’t know what to do now, i can take a gap year and re apply or I could just stick this out for another year and transfer for my placement/masters.
is it possible to transfer in ur third year? or will i have to redo second year i’m only on week 3 rifht now.

just some follow up questions:
Will I be able to make friends at a new uni even tho i’m joining so late? - i’m quite good at socialising tho and i’ll joint societies etc.
and finally just what do you think you would do in my position?

Also i go to Lancaster Uni and I would wanna transfer to edinburgh, manchester or leeds

Another thing is lancaster is beautiful similar to york and it can be fun here when ur with the right people but idk i’m a city girl at heart being - let me know please!! if u have any advice i’ll take it anything!!

Hi there,

I can't confidently say what I'd do in your situation, but hopefully I can help a little.

This is definitely something you should talk to your personal academic tutor about, as well as your university's support and well-being team. They are exactly the kind of people who are experienced in this! They can help you to understand the process a little better, can help you to work through any feelings and issues, and you can create an action plan with them for your next steps.

Also consider funding. Would you be able to afford a year of school if you ran out of student finance (if you ended up having to apply for over four years of funding)?

Just remember to do your own research and make this decision for you. If you feel a certain path is right, then look into it!

I hope this helps and best of luck,

Hi @s_ve

I am sorry to hear you are finding your time at Lancaster a little bit tough at times. University can be a massive balancing act of things such as socialising, your course, living alone etc. I would like to remind you of your college's designated CAT (College Advisory Team) team that you will have access to, this link will take you to a page where you can find your college's specific team that can help offer some guidance and support as you navigate this time of your university life, as well as possibly discussing your potential options around switching universities. I would really recommend speaking to them first.

Wishing you the best for the future, I hope you make the best decisions for yourself and your wellbeing!

Please feel free to ask any more questions!
