Staying in Student Accomadation till Graduation

Hi everyone, I’m a postgraduate student set to graduate in January 2025 and I'm still waiting for my results. I recently moved into student accommodation for a duration of one semester, and when I signed the lease, the agent assured me I could stay until graduation. However, my student ID and proof of course attendance expired last month, and now the accommodation is asking for these documents to grant council tax exemption. I don’t mind paying the council tax, but I’m worried that without valid student status, I might be asked to leave. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Can I still stay in the accommodation if I just pay the council tax, or could this affect my ability to stay there? Any advice would be appreciated!
'The agent assured me...'; what do you actually have in writing? Have you contacted the agent who said this?
Hello!

It sounds like you're in a tricky situation. The best thing to do is communicate directly with your accommodation provider, as prolonging this step may cause you problems or simply increase your worries.

Explain your situation honestly to them and inform them that you might be able to provide a letter from your university confirming your student status and expected graduation date and hopefully they will be flexible enough to solve this with you.

If they're not flexible, you could consider paying the council tax as you’ve mentioned in hopes of solving the issue or, if that doesn’t work, finding temporary accommodation while you wait for results in case things go south.

If you need help finding temporary accommodation, you can go to Casita and they can help you find the best accommodation near you.
