Do I still have a chance - Law

Hello everyone, my first time posting here!

Scottish student here and this year sat my Highers and got AAAAB

my appeal for the subject I got a B in was unsuccessful (one mark off- lifelong regret)

I want to study in common Law in uni but I was wondering with my grades would it be too ambitious to apply to UCL or King’s, or should I give it a shot?

I’ve thinking about my 5 choices and I still haven’t really had a firm decision where I want to go. My top choice would probably be Glasgow but I’m afraid that it would be competitive as not many Scottish unis offer Common Law (also free tuition would attract many!) and I just barely meet the entry requirements, so anyone have any advice of their experiences I would really appreciate it!

I’m sorry, I have no idea how law works, nor do I know how Scotland works. I was just really tempted to say ‘no’, which was mean. I think you definitely do have a chance still because those grades are good. Go for it!

UCL Laws calls for A1,A,A at Advanced Highers (or A1,A at Advanced Higher and A,A,A at Higher). I discovered that by under one minute's worth of Googling. You can look up KCL's requirements yourself. Looking stuff up is a law student and lawyer thing.

PS: Cheer up! I doubt that dropping one mark in one of your Highers will bother you much or at all when you are 97 (or even when you are 27).

I have been doing law for ages and I can assure you that law doesn't work. People have been trying to make law work since Ashurbanipal was a boy in Nineveh. No go! As a student of history and politics, I'm not sure that Scotland works either, although Scotland did invent the Enlightenment, and that's a good thing.

This is my kind of response! Thank you making me chuckle

Apologies if I was unclear, I did actually already look up the entry requirements on the unis that I mentioned above, I was just asking if getting into these unis is realistic with my average grades given the competitiveness and that I shouldn't waste my choices applying to them if all I'm going to take is big fat L. I'm actually looking for a "give it a shot" or a "don't bother" type of response! just want to seek affirmation

It's tough man, I was absolutely gutted when I phoned up the school and they said nah the grade's not changed, and so many of my friends got the full house

The problem with all such requests here is that they are pointless, because it does not appear that anyone who posts here is involved in the admissions systems of the most popular universities. I teach a bit at one of the universities in which you are interested, but I am not involved in the admission of students. All that I or anyone else can say is "you might obtain a place, and you might not". As may go without saying: try to do well in your Advanced Highers.
