Hellooo im in Year 13 and I have done my november/december mocks and got a B in geography. I am also at the end of my NEA! My exam board is AQA and i do: water + carbon cycle, coasts, hazards, global systems and global governance, changing places and resource security. My favourite topics in geography is hazards (however i am starting to like carbon cycle more) and changing places (its a more calmer topic for me than gsgg and resource security)
I do AQA and those topics. What is Changing Places as I'm still not entirely sure what you learnt?

Changing places is an interesting topic (although others might think otherwise). Changing places is about how a place form an identity to someone as well as creating a sense of belonging. It also looks at how exogenous and endogenous factors contribute to the character of a place. It also looks at the socio - economic and cultural characteristics of a place and how it is impacted by globalization. (there are synoptic links between gsgg and changing places) Thats all i can say for now because i haven't finished this topic, however, i am excited to go over the case study about Detroit.

Why can't we have a study group on here. Many of the users (including me) don't have Snapchat.

Currently in Yr 12 doing OCR Geography
Def prefer human over physical - currently loving migration as a topicas its rlly interesting and struggling the most with glaciers for physical
In tests however I do better in physical over human as its rlly easy to misinterpret questions (at least for me!) so I'm trying to work on thatt😭😝

hey! im in y12 and I do Edexcel A level geography!
I love both physical and human! so far we’ve done the hydrological cycle, globalisation, coasts and starting superpowers now.
Does anyone have any advice for revision tips for geography/ how to get a good grade and do well in the exams?
Am I behind?
I do AQA A-Level Geography and we've just done the UN in Human Geography and Human influences in the Carbon Cycle in Physical Geography. This seems quite far behind for halfway through Year 12.
@flowersinmyhair can you answer as well as I know you did AQA A-Level Geography.

It depends what order you are going in - is the UN for global governance? The water and carbon cycle is absolutely massive so I wouldn't worry about that (especially as it appears you are nearing the end of the topic).

i'd recommend making sure your structure for each question type is secure! e.g. starting with an intro for 12 & 20 markers, and how many paragraphs/individual points you should do for all.

also would recommend having a document for case studies, either as a simple word document or making flashcards from them (flashcards for case studies don't really work for me so i prefer reading and blurting to remember them, but they might work for other people) - i find this to be the main bulk of my revision for most topics, excluding mainly glaciation since it's VERY process heavy. do make sure you make revision sources for processes within physical topics though, they're so easy to brush over.

keeping up with present events is always a good idea too - there are so many questions where you can involve current conflicts and governmental changes or decisions into your answers which wouldn't normally be taught from the spec since it was made in 2016, and therefore shows wider reading!!

Yes the UN is Global Governance, we're doing it in the order of the specification with 1 teacher teaching Human and the other Physical.
In fact, here's my homework I'm doing now.

I did Changing Places first and I believe I was still doing it at about this time two years ago and Global Governance went into the start of Year 13 for me.
