Hope this question doesn't come up in the Carbon Cycle test tomorrow.
"Outline the relationship between the water cycle and the carbon cycle in the atmosphere"(4)
Any ideas?
I have no idea.
At least my teacher has given us the title of the 20-marker in tomorrow's test.

Water cycle is impacted by carbon cycle through carbon emissions, decomposition rate is dependent on water content of soil and humidity of atmosphere.

:ta: . Thank you for this. I'd say Carbon Cycle is my weakest topic so far so probably should've revised a bit more but lessons learnt for next time.:dontknow:

To get started, here are a few questions to break the ice:

Which exam board are you following?

What do you enjoy the most about this subject or course?

What topics within A-Level Geography do you find most challenging/interesting?

6 months late but wanted to say hi!
Hii! I'm in year 12 and I do Geography along with psychology and Art!🥳
My exam board is Edexcel
I like physical geography cuz of the field trippsss (and my teachers pretty nice) (However my human geo teacher is not that great at teaching and I often struggle in human geo and I give up on revising it loll🤣
Topics I like: Rivers, water cycle, carbon cycle (any physical geo stuff cuz its easier to visualise, not tectonics tho cuz theres too many case studies😖
Topics I find challenging (not necessarily not liking it): human geo stuff like globalisation, regeneration etc (I can't for the life of me apply the case studies I memorised in test questions and i end up waffling a lott and I get a not so great grade😫
yeaa thats it 😀

Have your school done the whole of carbon cycle? My teacher just taught us EQ1 and left us to fend for ourselves 😭
Ive tried emailing her but she said that we don't have to learn the rest🤔
I do Edexcel btw ))

I've learnt the entire Carbon Cycle (my teacher taught it all) and we're now on coasts. I do AQA. If your teacher hasn't taught you most of the Carbon Cycle that's a serious concern and you should tell someone at school about it.

Yay. :woo::woo:
Exam Board:AQA
What do I enjoy most about this subject? I enjoy all of Geography but I (slightly) prefer human and my favourite human topics are Urbanisation/Population/Development. I want to do a BA in Geography most likely at UEA as it's my local (Not Cambridge) uni that does Geography.
What topics are most interesting/difficult? I'm only in Year 12 so I don't know but Changing Places sounds very interesting as it's new and I'm not sure what the most difficult topic is.
I take Geography along with History and Sociology.

Changing Places is an absolutely lovely topic in comparison to some of the others! I'm just about to do my exams and personally I've found Global Systems and Global Governance the hardest but each to their own!

I did Changing Places at the start of Year 12! I like it because you can essentially just make stuff up and you'll get marks for it (not official AQA advice of course though).

Can anyone explain El nino and Lanina for me

El Niño effect occurs every 2-7 years and

causes warm temperatures in a predictable way

La Niña effect occurs. very 2-7 years and causes cooler temperatures in a predictable way

it is likely that Climate Change will increase probability of more El Nino's in future

(from my flashcards so not very detailed- hope this helps tho!)

Can anyone explain El nino and Lanina for me

Normal year: trade winds blow across the pacific from east to west (S America to Australia). Warm surface water moves from east to west Pacific. Warm surface water piles up in W Pacific, leads to low pressure, low pressure air rises and cools, leads to more evaporation, leads to more clouds, more rainfall in Australia

El nino: Trade winds which blow from east to west weaken in strength and now blow from west to east. Basically the opposite of a normal year, low pressure in East pacific (S America), moist air rises and cools, leads to condensation, rainclouds form. Which leads to rainfall in south America, no rainfall in Australia
TIP: what I do to remember the difference between normal year and el nino year is: el niNO: NO rainfall in australia

La nina is the opposite of el nino: leads to rainfall in Australia (West pacific), Drought in South america (East pacific)
