To get started, here are a few questions to break the ice:

Which exam board are you following?

What do you enjoy the most about this subject or course?

What topics within A-Level Physics do you find most challenging/interesting?

Hi! Im in year 12 and just started OCR a level physics. So far Ive done most of the electricity topic and started forces and motion. I like physics because it needs problem solving to link different topics to each other to answer harder questions which i enjoy 🙂

Hello,

I’m a tutor with over 10 years of experience with an engineering degree, and I’ve helped hundreds of students score A*s in A-Level Physics, Maths, and Economics. While I’m no longer tutoring, I’ve gathered a lot of tips, tricks, and exam hacks that have helped a lot of students. I'm happy to share the tips/exam hacks/resources that I/my students found helpful and hopefully answer any questions you may have.

Hi I am doing aqa physics. We have done the waves topic. It was quite challenging to understand and to make sense cuz i don't understand why light forms ripples when it passes through a slit, rather than passing straight through like a single line. This is the worst topic of physics...

Hi, I have a question. In weak interactions, how can you tell if the exchange particle is a W+ or W- (or Z0)? I've been asked to finish labelling a Feynman diagram and I'm not sure what the exchange particle would be.

I hope this helps:

When you're figuring out if a weak interaction exchange particle is a W+, W-, or Z0, it’s all about tracking the charge:
1. Look at the charges of the particles before and after:

If something gains a positive charge (like a neutrino turning into a positive lepton or a down quark switching to an up quark), it’s a W+ that’s been exchanged.

If something loses a positive charge (like an electron turning into a neutrino or an up quark turning into a down quark), you’re looking at a W-.

2. If there’s no change in charge at all, it’s likely a Z0 doing the job. The Z0 mediates “neutral current” interactions, where particles just scatter off each other without changing their type or charge.

3. Bonus tip: If there’s a neutrino appearing or disappearing with a change in charge, you’re probably dealing with a W.

Summary:
- Charge goes up W+
- Charge goes down W-
- No charge change Z0

Hope these videos may be helpful to explain the concept bit more! How are you getting on with the wave topic?? (if you click the vid should just open up on new tab)

thank you very much for the resources, i will definitely use them. Now I became much better - i have done loads of past paper questions on it and watched many animations

That's really great to hear!! Keep it up  Is physics your fav subject or something else? I used to love Physics it but struggled wrapping my head around some of the maths involved

yes physics is my fav subject (along w maths)- especially i like electricity and electromagnetism - and i don't prefer learning about stuff that are subatomic level cuz sometimes they don't make sense and defy common sense- but when i understand them they seem so fascinating 🙂

Hi : D
I’m in Y13 doing AQA physics. I love all things mechanics and further mechanics (especially SHM) and turning points. I hate capacitors and experimental physics (paper 3) with a burning passion.

I would be interested as my son is struggling with physics at the moment

I'm in year 13 studying a level physics, it's been a wild ride 😅 that 2024 a level paper 2 I did for my mocks was tough

Hello there
I have my SQA Higher Physics exam in 2 months, and I have received a C in my previous prelims, any tips on how to improve? I would really need and appreciate because I would love to go to my dream uni.
Thanks

I'm in year 13 doing AQA Physics, and to be honest I'm hating it. I managed to get an A* on the end of year 12 mock, but got a B on the recent mocks and really just feel like I'm getting worse at physics - and like I haven't understood anything in ages. Every question seems to be like something I've never seen before no matter how much I revise. I'm quite anxious because I have uni offers that require at least an A and I'm doing far more work for physics than my other two subjects, which I feel fairly comfortable with (maths and economics) yet still don't seem to make progress, and I'm concerned if this is gonna harm my future. Any suggestions?

I found it helpful to take it topic-by-topic. First, I learn the content using Seneca and the flashcards on physics and maths tutor (free website). Then I watch a YT video (Z Physics is a good channel) to get an understanding of the calculations in the topic. Then I attempt the topic exam-style questions on physics and maths tutor.

Honestly I only started past papers after I finished going through all the topics because it’s so demotivating otherwise : / physics is fun, but it is so so difficult.

Edit - you got this!!
