How important is legal work experience for law at Oxford, UCL, Warwick and Bristol
You don’t need work experience to get into any university for law. Legal work experience is great for introducing you to legal practice, but not as useful when looking at the academic side of the law, which is what universities are concerned with. While it may add to your application, it’s not necessary. It simply shows that you are engaging with law beyond academics. Legal experience wasn’t my priority personally when writing my personal statement, as the universities I applied to (Cambridge, Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham and Nottingham) seem to care more about super curriculars that demonstrate academic engagement, such as wider reading, than work experience.
Note that Bristol explicitly state that they’ll only look at your personal statement if they need to differentiate between you and another candidate with very similar stats, so work experience will likely not be the top of their priority list if that eases your worries.
