Can't bring myself to revise

Moderately depressed person here. I've tried breaking it up into small portions, pretending I'm a robot, doing it all in one chunk, reward system, punishment system, only 5mins etc but I just CANT. Probably just a matter of will power now and JUST DO IT rather than writing this. Still hoping for a little advice.

Are you getting any treatment for your depression?

Hi, I am really sorry that you are feeling like this. I get that it is really hard to get things done when everything feels like it is working against you.
The only advice that has worked for me in situations like this is to focus on making other parts of your life better and then the revision will come with it. I get that it is hard when you have things that need to be done, but making time for yourself is important too and if you do this, you'll be able to work better.
I would try to focus on getting a good sleep and wake routine, making sure you go to bed and get up at the same time every day. Eating at the same times too, and making sure you are managing to eat some good healthy foods, because they'll fuel your brain. Try to do a few things that bring you out of your head and into your body - exercise, watching a funny program, trying to do some kind of problem solving. All of these can help you change mental state.
Most importantly, be kind to yourself. You are doing your best. Keep trying, you will get there, but being harsh on yourself won't help.
And if you start feeling worse or like it is becoming unmanageable, please get help, there are lots of amazing services out there that you can contact.
Sending all the best,
Evie (final year medic at UoS)
