Physio second degree

Hi!

I have just graduated from the university of birmingham with a 2:2. I did a course I hated (I know I should've dropped out but oh well) and I am planning on applying for another degree in physiotherapy. Now, since I got a 2:2, I will not get onto a Master's physiotherapy Pre-Reg course (I will still apply, just to see, but I highly doubt it) so my next option is to apply through UCAS for another bachelor's degree in physiotherapy. I have looked it up and SFE states that there are exceptions when it comes to second bachelor's degrees and funding, and since physiotherapy comes under a healthcare degree, it is one of the exceptions and I will received another round of loans for the duration of the course (3 years).
However, my no.1 choice will be the university of nottingham, and they want AAB in a levels, or a 2:1 from a previous degree. I got ABB in my a levels, however due to where I live and being the first person in my family to attend university, I may be considered for a contextual offer of ABB. I did also research on their website that applicants can apply for their health sciences with foundation year course (which lasts one year but if passed, students can reapply for their preferred healthcare course and continue doing that, so for me physiotherapy.)

My question is, does anyone know if SFE will still give me tuition and maintenance loans for that foundation year as well as the remaining three years of the physiotherapy course? Will emailing or calling up SFE and asking help?

@torikujawa I spotted your post on the Ask SFE forum and I've copied it to the healthcare forum so that I can offer some advice. If you are willing to consider other unis, you have a few masters options that you can apply to with a 2.2:

Northampton
Lincoln
Coventry - ask for 2.1 but possible if you have good work experience to add to your application

Or for another undergraduate course:

Leicester ABB
Coventry BBB
Northampton ABB
Sheffield Hallam ABB
Birmingham Newman BBB
Uni College Birmingham BBB
Wolverhampton BBB

So you shouldn't need to do a foundation year. Do note that it doesn't matter where you study physio - all courses are held to the same standard by the HCPC and the NHS won't care which uni you went to.
