International student or home student

Hi guys, I was just wondering whether it’s easier to apply for economics ( oxbridge, LSE….) as an international student or a home student?

More easy to get an offer? I’m not sure , but I think the requirements are lower

Oxbridge doesn't admit as many International students as the LSE. Also, just under 70% of LSE undergraduate intake is Chinese, so you would probably be accepted by LSE for Economics providing you have a 'stellar' UCAS Personal Statement as well as excellent grades.
Answered in this similar thread but won’t make a material difference unless you apply to a Scottish uni.

You mean Chinese nationality? Or like just Chinese . Cuz I’m a Chinese with UK nationality. And I wanna go to LSE, but I also have to consider that other unis like Cambridge etc. may prefer home student more so I’m quite struggling

Chinese from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia. But there are a considerable number of Home British Chinese students accepted by the LSE each year too. 🙂

I’m so curious, why do they like Chinese student so much😂
Just to add that you don't really get to choose your fee status in any meaningful way. You select Home/International as part of the application process, but unis complete their own fee assessment in any case.

Yes, but I can choose whether to apply as an intl student or home student by deferring or not

True, but the uni will still complete a fee review regardless. Obviously if you meet the home criteria at a later date then hopefully the uni agrees.

For Oxford and Cambridge it is about 15% to 20% depending on the course. 😀 lol

But the LSE is very popular with Chinese students as they gain a hugely 'lucrative' career.

The last time I looked at Cambridge, it made almost 800 offers to Chinese students and 500 were accepted. That was for 2021 and it is just International students?! 😧 lol

Because China has a 350 million population of Middle Class citizens, that probably explains why they can pay the expensive tuition fees?! 😉

Ohh hahahaha cuz students in China who apply for uk universities are all super rich hahaha. So is the expensive fee the reason why uni’s like Chinese international students😂😂😂

They are more intelligent than most students too. Because Chinese students usually score perfect 800 score in the Math test of SATs!!! 😀 lol

Also, the fact there is a 350 million Middle-Class population now in China means there are so many millions of rich families who can afford to pay £30,000 -£40,000 a year tuition fees often more depending on the course?!
