When someone calls someone else crazy what do they mean?

I recently got told that I was crazy by am older man. I have mental health issues but he said it like he was surprised. What do you think he meant by this
In what context? People get called crazy all the time for doing something a bit off-kilter or out-of-character for them.
If its coming from a man it probably means you're right and they're trying to gaslight you

A 60 year old man from work called me mad and then said I'm not crazy as if he expected me to be. I also had someone from work call me crazy repeatedly

Why, though? It doesn't tend to happen out of the blue, unless the speakers themselves are crazy...
Really depends on the context. Some people even use it in a positive way, others in a neutral way (often when they do not have anything else to say, because they just cannot find a category) and others in a derogatory way.

The important thing is to try to focus on what those people call you, who are important to you and otherwise try to find a smart way to react or to actually ask someone at work you trust for constructive feedback and then learn to trust those people with constructive feedback, not those, who do not really think, before they talk.
