Fashion management at university of Manchester

I’ve just started doing a fashion design degree at bath spa university but I’m not enjoying it here and thinking about dropping out and reapplying to uni for next year. I really like the look of Manchester for fashion management but I only got BBC in my a levels last year when their entry requirements are AAB. Would I have any chance of getting in? Does anyone know if it’s an oversubscribed course? As I have confirmed grades would that help me? I also wasn’t super far off the next grades up for all three subjects so could they take that into account? And does this course come up in clearing, maybe I’d have a better chance applying that way.

Hey there Ella,

I'm sorry to hear you aren't liking it too much at your current uni. However I can reassure you that you have plenty of options available to you. I would firstly advise to speak to your personal tutor at your current uni. Perhaps they can talk through your difficulties with you and give you some motivation. However if you decided it really wasn't for you and you wanted to leave to reapply next year...

Apply to Manchester next year with the grades you have if you like this course, however remember to have at least 2 choices pitched at BBC requirements just in case they cannot give you an offer (@Sheffield Hallam University ask for BBB-BBC for fashion management!) If possible, reach out to Manchester's admissions team to see if they would accept your BBC.

If not, spend this year re-taking a couple of your A Levels with the aim of bumping up the grades a little so you are closer to Manchester's requirements, then apply next year with your new grades.

These are only suggestions, obviously its entirely up to you which direction is best for your future. I'd encourage you to talk with your tutor and your parents to see what they think, perhaps they can support you with your choices.

I hope this helps a bit, best wishes!
