Hello all!
I figured I'd make a thread for me to make into a kind of blog for my MA studies in Cultural Studies and PhD if I go that route after my master's.
So I'll start with a brief introduction, I'm Ben and I recently started my MA in Cultural Studies at the University of Worcester. It's really exciting to be part of the first cohort for this course, a subject that used to be a significant area of study but my tutor has been wanting to bring it back to its former prominence for 20 years by creating and running her own course. So the chance to be part of someone else's lifelong goal is exciting but also comes with certain pressures.
My background in Academia is limited, I did a BA in Graphics Design & Illustration in Liverpool 6 years ago, so it is currently a lot of learning, adjusting back to University life and relearning all the ins and outs of writing and research, more than I ever did at undergrad.
I've had a few weeks of suffering from increased anxiety, I have had Generalised Anxiety disorder for many years now but had a few panic attacks recently but I seem to be settling in now and have calmed down this week. However, motivating myself to work is a struggle at the moment, as my routine isn't fixed and I haven't worked out one that works for me yet. Going to try and crack that next week, working more at the library than at home. That is what worked for me during my undergrad so may as well try it again now.
Anyway, that is enough for now.
