Is Future Doc worth it?

Hi everyone, I’m an international GEM applicant (but I’ve done my BSc and my MSc in the UK + I have worked/am working in the NHS so I’m not too foreign to the UK education system or healthcare system).

I had an interview with Future Doc today, they offer 2 programmes (fundamentals or gold) and they basically coach you through the whole application process up until your offers.

Given I am at a double disadvantage (international + GEM), I was wondering is it worth it to pay for the coaching services?

I’ve already paid for Medify for 12 months, I’m self studying for the UCAT and I feel I have a good understanding of the NHS values + medical ethics (just from working in the NHS and having been on a healthcare course) to study for the interviews when and if I am offered any.

At the same time, I really do want to give myself the best chances at getting accepted because I am already 25 and will be 26-27 by the time I get to start a GEM course and I don’t want to lose 1 more year.

Has anyone worked with them, what are your thoughts?

I hope you hear from some people who went with them. I am also a GEM applicant and almost paid for future doc but decided to self study.

There are a few things that made me skeptical of them and ultimately made me choose to prepare for UCAT/interviews by myself. 1. I always think it’s a huge red flag when tutoring companies are not transparent about their prices 2. I couldn’t find independent reviews anywhere online (for example on trust pilot) I could only find the testimonials they posted on their own platforms. 3. I didn’t like the hard sell I got in the interview. 4. Their prices seem unreasonable for the service that they are providing. 5. I paid for their UCAT online course and it was littered with mistakes.

This is just my perspective, I hope you hear from others. Good luck with your application!

Basically a scam. Unbelievable prices for generic information and a few error ridden videos and a bit of second rate tutoring.People should really read their terms and conditions

2.5. In brevity, FutureDoc is purely an advisory service; FutureDoc does not give any representation or make any guarantees regarding the outcome of any admissions tests or university applications and cannot be held liable for any unsuccessful outcomes. Our high success rate is our current track record, and not a percentage guarantee for future applicants.

In plain terms - we make up some nonsense statistics and know that if you pay us a fortune you will probably not get in but have our arses covered.Don't make the mistake of falling for all this nonsense. Use Medify and Youtube resources which are free.

Future Doc Scam.

Couldn't agree more. It's a scam!

I signed up for their monthly course at nearly £400/month and guess what no offers! Of course as they will tell you I'm one of the unlucky few (6%) who didn't get it after their extraordinary help but here is my experience. Also don't fall for the whole scammy interview they will make you go through (our places are running out etc) sales pitch. They accept everyone and at any point.

1) UCAT - basically I had a medical student who had no real clue and couldn't answer most of the questions themselves. Spent most of my 3 hours a month going through Medify questions by myself and told to look up answers on the web when my so called tutor couldn't answer them!

2) PS - Told to use CHATGPT to generate something and then make a few changes (thanks!). Then used 2 hours of my tutors's time to be told it was fantastic. Obviously it wasn't.

3) Interview - Honestly could have found all of their advice on youtube with a few searches. Medical interview questions are pretty standard and these people have no special insight.

The whole thing was such a waste of money and I'm now kicking myself. I don't mind not getting in but hate the fact that I've been ripped off in the process.

DM me if you would like any more information and good luck

Laura

There is so much content online you can access. Site like Medify, Medicportal, The MMI Doctor. No need to pay large amounts of money.

Thousands of GEM applicants get offers every year without doing any of these daft ££ 'schemes'.
So what does that tell you. That they are actually a total waste of money.

Hey - I posted this in a different thread as well but I think it is worth posting here too!
So I actually joined the programme, and honestly, it was totally worth it! I get that it can seem expensive, but for me, it was a solid investment. I was paired with a medical student who helped me prep for the UCAT, and having that support really kept me on track. They ran loads of sessions that broke down each section in detail, which was super helpful. What made the biggest difference for me was the interview prep. When I got my interviews, I was able to have sessions with medical students from those specific universities, so the advice was really tailored to the style of each place. If cost is a worry, they do offer different ways to pay, and they’ve got subsidies for students from low-income backgrounds, which is great. Honestly, the programme played a big role in helping me get into medical school—especially after a few previous attempts. It also helped that my tutor connected me with other students applying to the same unis, so we could practise interview questions together and keep each other updated on offers and things like that. I'd definitely recommend dropping them an email and asking about it. It might not be for everyone, but for me, it made a massive difference. I think it is really easy to look at these programmes and think SCAM but honestly I think if you look at the reviews from students including myself it defiantly is not!

So please please don't read the negative reviews about the company as I think everyone has a different experience but a majority is overwhelmingly positive!

Thank you for this! Was initially really sceptical but will look into it now.
