Master in clinical psychology

I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from a country outside the UK, and my qualification is approved by the British Psychological Society (BPS). I have been granted the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) and have one year of clinical work experience in psychoanalysis and my approach relational but in all of my search i only find CBT approach which was a shock for me , Could you please tell me how I can work as a therapist or provide therapy in the UK? It feels like it’s really hard to figure out the right steps, and I’m honestly a bit lost!

Any help would be appreciated ,thanks

Rest assured there are lots of different therapies offered in the UK, but yes CBT is a primary modality so you will a higher demand for this.

Reference your qualifications which had the practical trg and what type of trg was it (what specific qualification (was it just the masters)? It will important to know if you have any therapeutic qualifications, as there is a possibility you can get these accredited within the UK (this is a different process than GBC).

You can of course do private work if you feel confident to do so, the type of therapeutic modality you are doing is not often undertaken in the NHS or within private companies. So i suspect your only option may be to do this via private practice (a lot of therapists work privately or on adhoc basis for some charities or services). Most therapist jobs in the UK will require some form of accreditation (this is not the same as GBC), such as via BACP, BABCP etc. You can google this terms and review how and If you can gain accreditation. However, in general the largest demand for paid permament therapist work is for CBT therapists rather than psychodynamic/analysis.
