Not UCL! The best Art History course in London by far is at the Courtauld and UCL really struggles in comparison with a very limited range of modules and a woke/contemporary bent.

Hi! I am in UCL now and can confirm. Can you tell me more please? Should I transfer to Courtauld?

I know of students who have done so but they needed to reapply through UCAS and start again in First Year - there is no option at the Courtauld of transferring directly into Second Year.

Hi could you tell me more specific reason why you want to transfer to other uni?
Thank you in advance~

Well I found the course quite mediocre, I only have two modules and too focused on marxist/feminist/identity politics. Plus I’m doing a joint degree with French and so I’m only getting half of a History of Art degree. Really regret not picking Courtauld, had it as my second option.

Hi, what do you think of St.Andrews for history of art. Thank you in advance!

I know some very good people who have studied History of Art there - all artists. However, I think it's worth thinking about how well inserted you are in the art world. At St Andrews you aren't going to make the fantastic connections with the professional art world that you would in London. Fine perhaps if you are from London. St Andrews is great if what you really want to do is to paint and don't want to meet museums/galleries/dealers/auctioneers etc

If BA at St.And and MD at Courtauld would it be better for future career. Thank you in advance!

I think Courtauld is absolutely unparalleled as a History of Art experience. Why are you interested in St Andrews?

same as above.
I had equal choice between St.And and UCL. And end up choosing St.And because I liked the modules and the culture there.
Now I’m considering bit..

So you are already at St Andrews?
What do you and do you not like about it?
Which country are you from?

as you mentioned above.
here, lack of art related places, people and opportunities compared to city like London . But has good lectures and modules for academic perspectives.

If you are in First Year at St Andrews you could apply to the Courtauld for next year - your degree wouldn't take any longer since it's 4 years in Scotland to 3 years in England. The lack of art opportunities at St Andrews vs London is a no brainer for me. The Courtauld offers amazing opportunities all the time.
