Help behind with uni work

Recently gone into my final year of my undergraduate degree. I am already a month behind on uni work as anxiety has stopped from be attending which I’ve never really struggled with before. I am aware it is my own fault for never trying to catch up… as anyone got any tips on how to tackle this is… it’s well over 25 lectures I need to catch up on aswell as form a dissertation idea.
Would you be able to contact student support and your lecturers to explain your situation?

at this you need to be careful as you shoul also take care of your mental wellness while working extra hard to catch up with deadlines. sometimes sacrifices are necessary in life and you are at that stage where most things shouldn't matter but getting that degree which you have a spent a lot of time working on.

I would say a really important first step is to contact your personal tutor and dissertation supervisor, if you can. Your personal tutor is here for pretty much any academic support you need, and it can be really helpful just to have your supervisor support you where they can. But yes - I agree with others in that contacting the student support team is really helpful! They can help support you

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you are struggling with the start of your final year. I empathize with you, as I have also felt the pressures from this year and am struggling so much to keep up with dissertation research and writing.

I'd strongly recommend that you talk to your personal academic tutor. This is exactly what they are there to help with! Explain your situation, how you are feeling, and hopefully they can help you to form an action plan and a way forward.

It might also help you to not look at the volume of material you have missed, but instead prioritize what is the most important. Can you get an average grade on an assignment for a module while you prioritize your dissertation and catch up? Usually lecturers will put the class materials on Moodle too, which makes it easier to catch up in your own time. But these are all things to discuss with your PAT.

Reach out to your university's support and well-being team too. It does help to talk about these things, especially at such a critical time and after all of the hard work you have put in already.

Best of luck,

Hey there 🤗

Please go easy on yourself. You’re doing your best, and that counts for so much. I’m in my final year too, and honestly, it can feel overwhelming sometimes. It’s completely okay to feel this way, and even more important, it’s okay to ask for help. Maybe consider reaching out to your university’s support services. Many universities offer counselling specifically for students managing anxiety, and talking it through with someone trained can really help lighten the load. You’re not alone in this!

For your dissertation and any missed lectures, reaching out to your supervisor, personal tutor, or module leader could be really helpful. Finding the right dissertation topic can take time. I did quite a bit of literature research to narrow mine down. My supervisor also reassured me that they’re there to help with this process, so don't hesitate to ask! Your personal tutor and module leader are great people to connect with if you’re finding the course challenging. They’re more than happy to meet with you, discuss what’s going on, and offer the support you need.

I hope it was helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

Take care,
