It was quite challenging in terms of time pressure. I don't think it went too good, what about you? How do you think you did?
Well I feel like I'll get 60-75, but I feel like the cut-off mark would be up this year. Ive remembered like 8 of the questions I guessed due to time shortage and did them. The questions were easy but timing was kind of bad and calculator was awful. I lost 6 marks purely due to calculator as I was unable to put base of logs in the calculator. Idk if I'll get an interview tbh. If I had like an extra 20 mins I would've done much better..

It's likely that the cutoff good up but I think the number of interviews will increase due to the change in test format and everything. And wow, 60-75 with 8 ish guesses is really good.

What did you apply for?

Just physics. I’ve not thought much about too many of my other uni options yet

Yeah I didn't know how to put log with base in the calc so I just had to improvise and do it differently with log base 10

Does anyone remember how many 4 mark questions were on the test?

Reply 67

I thought the test was pretty easy compared to the past papers. Expecting 15 to 20 marks off maximum.

Around 70 to 75. I highly doubt It will be anything above 80

I pray that you are correct 🙏. Also, whatever it should be just based off marks, they may reduce the cutoff by one or two additional marks from that due to their tendency to interview more people when they change the format of the PAT.

I just thought I'd post here so everyone knows they're not alone. I guess I also just need to let out some of my feelings right now.
As practice, I did every past paper from 2006-2023. And every question I got wrong I went back to later to make sure I could do it. By the time it got to the test, my scores were varying between 70 and 93. I consistently was finishing the papers. I had even practiced with the online calculator (which, for the record, I think is awful but I thought I might have just about got to grips with. I was about as close to 'confident' about this test as I was ever going to be.
Then I took the test.
I had already decided I needed to work quickly, so I worked as quickly as I possibly could. I was strict with myself, moving off questions after around 4 minutes to make sure I didn't slip behind. After 1 hour, I was still doing ok, just about having done 20 questions. But the questions just got more difficult, and questions I could have got right if I had a bit longer I just ended up giving up on because I was running out of time. At two minutes left, I had only done up to question 33 (having already guessed several questions before that point due to time pressure). I guessed the remainder of the questions, completely randomly.
I've probably got anywhere between 35 and 60.
My dreams have been crushed.
I don't think any level of lowered boundaries or GCSE weighting could get me an interview now.
