What a levels should I pick?

I want to do economics, psychology and either politics or English lit. I can’t decide between the two. I like English lit now and im okay at it but im worried that I will not like it at a level. Also I want to do a marketing degree but im still deciding on what to do. I got a 7 in my mock in year 10 but I don’t know how well im gonna do in my November mock to be confident in picking English lit

I'm in year 13 and do English lit - definitely keep in mind that the grade boundaries are high for it and that you need to put work in to get the vest grades (as with any a level you do tbh).

I'd say it links more to marketing than politics but definitely go with the subject you find more interesting and would enjoy as it can get intense and having that passion for it will motivate you when it gets tough!

Also look into the texts your school studies as that makes a difference on whether you'd enjoy the course!

Hope this helps

Go and talk to the relevant teacher and find out which set texts will be part of the Eng Lit A level - this can make an enormous difference to your enjoyment of the course. Similarly, find out exactly which topics are taught as part of the Politics A level - is it all about British politics for example, or does it include USA politics etc?

PS. Be aware that many Marketing degrees are business-based and will require a good Maths GCSE grade to cope with the stats/data work involved. Example - Marketing Degree (Hons) | BSc | University of Southampton

If you want to go into marketing then maybe look into A-level Media Studies because that has a lot of focus on marketing. If you’re still going to choose between Politics and Lit then Politics might be interesting, but Lit might add some variation to the options you have already picked. There might be a bit of crossover with Economics and Politics, but I can’t really comment because I don’t do Politics.

As others have said, you need to look at the specific texts/topics for each subject which your school covers. Also id recommend watching some videos on YouTube from students who have previously taken the courses to see their opinions and experience of the courses.
