Hey! I applied for head girl recently and got the position but no longer have my application as it is with the school.
why do you want to be head girl?
When asked this question in my interview and application I stated that during secondary school, I felt as though the school contributed a lot of time and effort into ensuring I succeed in my studies and as a result I wanted to give something back to school by applying for a position that requires a lot of hard work and dedication. I wanted to be a voice for my fellow peers and bridge the gap between staff and students to improve the school community while also influencing change in the school by encouraging a welcoming environment.
what things i would implement if i became head girl?
I said I would attempt to start a student newsletter to keep students informed regarding extracurriculars, school activities, events, and opportunities - making it digital allows it to be easily accessed and shared. Furthermore i said i would help start Mental Health and Well-being Initiatives such as assemblies and PSHE lessons to encourage students to share their worries and improve their mindset regarding school. One thing that helped me stand out when asked this question was I suggested assemblies rewarding students for their achievements not only in academics but also in sports, arts, and community service by announcing achievements and help the school set up a "Student of the Month" program.

Honestly, they will most likely hold interviews for the position as well which is what really matters. Ensure you are charismatic and if the teachers holding the interview already have an idea of your personality embrace it and dont act like a persona you think would make you look favourable - they'll know its a ruse. This gives u an opportunity to appear passionate and confident which is what's most important. Take your time with the questions and attempt to be enthusiastic to a realistic degree.

Good Luck! And dont be disheartened if you don't get the position - it is not that important.

thank you so much this is really helpful! i am trying to make myself more known to the teachers already by offering to volunteer in lessons/assemblies etc so they can see im confident and charismatic. i also had the idea of doing monthly lunchtime chats with students across various year groups which i thought could be quite helpful

Thats a really unique idea which i feel other candidates probably wouldnt consider. Try not to show your nervousness and if you have the confidence that youll defo do well in the position - youre most likely to get the position. Good Luck!
