How much should my clutch replacement cost?

I have a 2008 old ford fiesta zetec 1.4 engine petrol. The clutch is apparently £420 to replace is this correct? I'm no car expert but my car is worth like £1500 max I've had it for a year and few months but the clutch sadly is worn now. Is the replacement worth it? I do want to change cars to something newer like a newer focus/fiesta or a Toyota and sell this one.

Hi there. The cost sounds about right, as the parts and labour costs will be the same regardless of the age of the car. Whether it's worth doing or not is a difficult decision. If you don't replace it, you will probably only get scrap value for your car (about £200). If you replace it, you would get a better sale value, it just depends if you think it will pay for itself. I guess it depends if the car has any other issues that would put a buyer off.
It will honesty depend, for a basic hatchback yeah you'll be looking at £450-600, bearing in mind not all garages charge the same rate. I wouldn't be surprised if they call and say they've found other issues while doing it, esp on an older car.

How worn is the clutch? does it still drive, is it slipping a little, is it slipping a lot?

i got it replaced it cost £400 but they also said my brakes needed servicing which was £80 but they didn't change any parts on the break just trimmed it or something like that they said. At the moment when I do 70mph my revs are at 3000 is that normal?

I'm no clutch expert but no it doesn't sound ideal, clutches do take a few 100 miles to properly bed in though, how is it now?

My van needs about 2800rpm to maintain 70moh, but it's clutch is ****ed.
