Help planning on what to do during a gap year

Hello, I am currently in year 13 right now and planning on taking a gap year mainly due to the fact that my predicted grades were lower than I expected and I can't do improve them anymore, and due to the fact that I still want to figure out and be sure on what I want to do. Right now I am thinking about applying economics bsc at bristol or durham. Is there anything specific I can do during my gap year that will help my application when applying to those unis? I assume getting work experience in finance would help but would there be any other useful stuff to do. Thank you.
Hello @rdog321 ,

During your gap year, there are plenty of activities you can dive into to boost your application for economics. Gaining work experience through internships in finance or economics-related roles, or even part-time jobs in accounting, can be really valuable. It’s also a great time to develop your skills—consider taking online courses in statistics, data analysis, or programming. If you’re looking to improve your A-levels, retaking them or engaging in independent study of the topics you struggle with. Don’t forget to read widely about economics and maybe even conduct a research project or start a blog to showcase your passion for the subject.

All the best.

Thank you very much😀
Check out the EDT's Year in Industry program. It's more geared towards STEM but there's a fair few finance/business things that might link to Econ.
