Hello, I’m a first year audiology student and I was just wondering if anyone knew the best ways to get good grades in this course, any books that helped them to understand and do well or anything like that would be great 😊

Hi, sorry I’m not answering your question but I’m wondering how is it going because I’m applying for it and I’m just wondering if you’re comfy with it, what grades you got in with (predicted included) because my predicted are BBC

Hey there 😁
It's fantastic to see your ambition and motivation - those are key starting points for achieving your goals! From my experience, one of the best ways to set yourself up for success is by thoroughly reviewing your module guides. They’re packed with detailed information about what’s expected, what’s covered throughout the year, and even recommended reading to help you excel.
If you ever find yourself confused or unsure about something, don’t hesitate to reach out to your lecturers or programme leaders. They’re there to support you and are always happy to explain things further.
Additionally, make it a priority to attend lectures, seminars, and workshops. These sessions not only focus on the most important topics but also provide access to external resources that deepen your understanding. Plus, they often include valuable tips for tackling assignments and exams. Taking full advantage of these opportunities will put you on the right track to success!
I hope it was helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

Hey, not a problem I’d love to help you out. Honestly I’m so glad I’m doing audiology, it wasn’t my first choice but was definitely my second. I love that my class is small too and it’s lovely as we all get to know one another and stuff. The course itself is generally good too it’s great because we can go i to different fields and stuff which I didn’t know. People always say how you can’t go into a bunch of things but there’s lots of things you can do around hearing. For example opening your own clinic, creating your own cochlear implants and so on. Have a look into it and if you want to do it I’d say go for it. It can be a bit tough but it’s not too bad every degree is hard at the end of the day some more than others maybe but nothings easy. It’s interesting and amazing. I’m super happy with my choice. I also did level 3 BTEC extended diploma and got D*DD. If you look at the entry requirements on uni websites it should say what they are and if you don’t have it maybe you could try to apply through clearing. That’s what I did. Good luck and I wish you the best in your journey 😊

Hi, I’m debating audiology but I’m being out of by the negative things online regarding the toxic work environment the rubbish pay etc. do you think the pays decent is there a future in the career and generally is there much career progression as I’ve heard there’s not alot you can do as hearing aid dispensers can do the same job as a audiologist so is it even worth going to uni for. I keep seeing mixed opinions sorry if this is to much

Yes it’s definitely worth it. It’s great experience and you gain a lot of knowledge. You are able to work with patients in a healthcare environment if you would like. And the pay is not rubbish at all better than most jobs. You can also progress a lot. Like I said open your own clinic which also has a lot of money in that as you would be private. Creating a brand of cochlear implants. I know they make a lot of money as other places can purchase them and pay you well. Honestly even as an audiologist you can make a good amount of money. I know someone who has relocated to another country and is making up to £100,000 a year. In the UK there was also a job opportunity to make up to £500 a day. So it’s safe to say money isn’t always rubbish. Of course you need to gain some experience to start but honestly progression is good and doesn’t take ages.

That’s awesome I love that for you. Good luck I hope it goes great. I had an interview for Swansea last year and some of the questions they asked me were what made me want to do audiology? What do I know about it? Do I know anyone who has hearing difficulties and stuff? And they also asked if I knew about choclear implants and why they were ? Ans asked if there was a child who didn’t speak how would I communicate with them ? This is what I can remember. I don’t know if they’ll ask the same of course but I hope this helps you 😊good luck 😊
