Dropping a 3rd A level?

Hey i’m in year 13 and i do History, Art and Economics a levels and music Tech AS

My main issue is i’ve just been diagnosed with glandular fever and i am absolutely exhausted- it’s half term so i have been able to sleep 10/11 hours thru the night and around 3/4 hours during the afternoon aswell but i know this won’t be possible when i go back to school

ive seen that glandular fever can’t last from a few weeks to over a year and not really sure what to do as i know i will really struggle to function at school

i have also started seeing a councillor recently since feeling really low for over a month and i am also going thru the process of being diagnosed with adhd.

My mum suggested that i think about maybe dropping an a level to decrease my workload and aiming to improve my overall mental health, the obvious choice would be to drop my music tech AS as then i would still have 3 a levels, however this would only give me 3 hours extra free time per week and when it is my favourite subject and what i want to do at university (even tho i don’t need the qualification to get in as i already have my place), so i dont think that is the right decision.

The logical choice would be to drop history or econ as i struggle the most with them but im not sure if this is even a good idea at all.

Music is my passion and i have written tons of songs with an EP coming out later this year and i have my place at my top choice uni to do music performance where i dont need any a levels to get in so this wouldnt be an issue.

id be grateful for any advice!

If you have an offer, and you have health issues, speak directly to the uni you have a place at - they are the ones that count and they can discuss options with you.

i agree with the person who said about talking to unis, a lot give offers if you contextual offers, or can offer something to do to help your application. from someone who did econ, as well as business on her own, business really isnt too different, I learnt it in under 6 month and got a B - having econ knowledge made that so much easier. It would be swapping an entire A Level at a late point, but a lot of colleges do offer 1 year courses for this so its not unheard of.
yes please ask the uni directly and ask about contextual offers !!!
Be aware that 2 A levels and an AS is not a full study-load for Sixth Form and your school may not allow you to do this.
And a Uni that insists on 3 A levels minimum will still expect 3 A levels as evidnce of your ability to study at degree level.
Even if they do allow this, if you have not been well, may be a better idea to simply retake Year 13, or at least do extra A level in your gap year to give you 3 full A levels.

Contact your Unis, then talk to your school.
thanks so much for all your advice, i did end up dropping history as since the glandular fever diagnosis 6 weeks ago(which i am still suffering from) i have had 2 colds, flu, 2 separate rounds of tonsillitis and a chest infection causing me to miss 80% of school in the past 6 weeks.

I did as you guys said and contacted my unis and they all said it was fine thank god!
my top choice said that if i pass the audition stage they would give me an unconditional offer anyways, and i have already got into my 2nd choice( they say i need 96 ucas points, regardless of where these points come from, and with my 2 a levels and AS level i should get around 104) so im feeling a big sense of relief!

thanks for your guys help and advice, retaking a year just wasn’t/isnt an option for me as this would severely impact my mental health and i just need to get on to the next stage so im extremely grateful that i am still able to do that in my situation
