Applying to a different form of student finance AFTER approved app, is it too late?

Hi all,

First year biomed student here.
Recently had my EU24 student tuition fees-only loan approved and identity documents returned, however I realized a few weeks prior to that I had chosen a pretty bad option and could meet the requirements of a PN1 form that both addresses my tuition and maintenance needs throughout.

The idea was to let this be approved to allow for the first payment to the university come out of the student loans company to sort of cut down the initial cost of living here and buy me and my family some time to get the correct form sorted (which we are doing currently)

I'm sure SFE will know that i've already been approved for a loan so my question is will they get ****ed off that I made an error submitting the old application and not cancelling and making a new one right away (which I couldn't have as my documents were sent away by post)? Or are they capable of cancelling the old one and introducing the payments once approved? Do I have to attach my Customer Reference Number (CRN) and give a reasoning with the new application as well?

Additionally, I have pre-settled status and a share code lasting till December, why does is there a box in the PN1 form to provide a share code only if you tick the settled status option and absent from the pre-settled option? That doesn't really make sense to me.

Any help on these matters would be great.

Nevermind about that last question, it tells you to put the share code later on 🙂

Hi there,

Can you confirm your nationality? How long have you been in the UK? Are you working in the UK or have an EU/EEA family member working in the UK?

Thanks,
Claire

Hi there,

We can cancel your current application once we get the PN1. That's not a problem, rest assured.

Are you currently working at the moment?

Thanks, Graeme

Thanks, it may be possible to apply for the Maintenance Loan since your Mum is working in the UK.

Are you aware of what we mean by applying as the Child of a Migrant Worker?

Thanks, Graeme

Hi Graeme,

Thanks for the response. An EU or EEA national who is working in the UK, correct? I would have to send identity document like her passport by post to be looked over, correct?

Thanks

Hi,

Yes, you would need to send her original valid Passport and your birth certificate with the application. We would also need a copy of her contract, last 3 months payslips and her P60 if she has it.

Thanks,
Claire
