Royal holloway vs Other universities

I have applied on UCAS at A*A*B predicted for business management at Bath Leeds York QMUL and Royal holloway. Ive been accepted into 4/5 waiting on bath which wont come back till january. Im wondering if its stupid and wasted potenital for me to even consider going royal holloway (being only non russel group i applied to) and if im just being blinded by the cool campus and possibility of my girlfriend / friends going. I keep changing between York QMUL and Royal holloway. York if i firm i am eligible for BBC grades through NSY program and QMUL is ABB with royal holloway being BBB. I always wanted to go to london and applied QMUL after going open day earlier this year however thinking about it now the area of london isnt the best and recent accademic performance falls short of royal holloway (Royal holloway 38th vs QMUL 50th). My plan is too graduate with a 2:1 / First (hopefully) and apply for a masters in business analytics at UCL or KCL. I was wondering if going to royal holloway not being russel group would ruin my chances and id get beaten out by others that went to russel group and if its worth going royal holloway for my friends and location.

Hey there Callum,

Thanks for reaching out, brill to hear you've applied to Bath as one of your choices.

At the end of the day its about choosing a uni which is right for you - based on course content, what you want to learn, location, feel of the place, how 'at home' you feel there. I would also try to see past the Russell Group label as this has no bearing on how good that uni is.

I would say based on your choices that Bath is more in line with UCL and KCL and is at this moment higher than the others for business & mgmt on the complete university guide. And with grades like that you are definitely capable of coming onto a course with higher required grades than ABB-BBC, such as Bath's. Bath also have one of the most solid placement schemes in the country which is fully supported by a whole staff team and so I'd consider this element too.

If I were you I would wait on us (apologies for the frustrating wait) for your offer decision and based on that have a good think about which uni's course is right for you, what you want to learn and where you want to be for the next few years.

I hope this helps, huge best of luck whatever you decide!

The most important thing is that you are happy and prosper wherever you are. You have a long time before you have to decide this.

Perhaps look out for offer holder days and go round some of these again, with a critical eye?

Just to note that Bath also isn't Russell Group. (But at least as good as the others!)

Royal Holloway used to be apart of the old 1994 group which Bath and York were both formerly apart of before the group dissolved in 2013. Royal Holloway was also featured in the Sutton Trust’s 30 most selective university list and is apart of the University of London just like Queen Mary. So I think you will be fine going to Royal Holloway if that is where you wish to go to as it’s important to remember the Russell Group is not the British version of Ivy League, it’s just a group of big unis which are research intensive just how the 1994 group was a group for smaller unis which were research intensive. So I’d argue that Royal Holloway is well regarded academically and if you wanna go to Royal Holloway, then it’s best you choose it.

Hey there! Glad to see someone like me.
As I have received my acceptance from bath yesterday, I am also in between whether to choose RH or bath(international management) for business and management.
In my case academics dont play a vital role in my decision but in every scenario it won't hurt anybody. However I would easily say that Royal Holloway do not look as a bad decision because of the fabulous campus and allows you to explore London, which you would rarely do that if you went on with Bath.
