College or sixth form?

I’m in year 11 and next week I have to decide if I stay at my school and do my 3 already picked out a levels which are physics, chemistry and biology as I’m doing medicine in uni after that. However, Cardiff and Vale a great college that I’ve heard off was recommended to me by my best friend. The open evening is one the 6th November and my school one day after that. I don’t mind travelling to the college as I would get free train transport. Also, want to do 2/3 epq’s to get into Cambridge for uni. For GCSE’s I’m predicted all 9s/A*

Definitely visit the opening evening so that you get to know the college better and see if it suits your liking. Some sixth form offer epq as a compulsory AS Level but im not sure about your sixth form. I also would suggest to visit as many opening evenings and apply to other sixth forms/ colleges so that u have a back up plan. If your sixth form (or other sixth forms) offer an Oxbridge excellence program, then you should definitely apply it cuz i heard it helps a lot with personal statements, CVs and interview tailored to Oxford and Cambridge uni. However, some sixth form may want you to work hard for the little mocks they give in yr 12 so that you are elligible if that makes sense.

Hope this helps and gl to your GCSEs!

I don’t know anything about the particular schools that you are referring to, but I would normally recommend going to a college, or somewhere other than where you already are. It not just about education, but also for your personal development and confidence, as it can be a great stepping stone to going to uni.

Just do 1 EPQ. You won’t have time to do more, along with everything else you need to do to get into med school like volunteering, UCAT prep etc.
