when do you guys do a-level essays closed book

for practice questions we get set for homework our teacher still allows us to do them open book. When should I start doing them closed-book even when the teacher allows us to do it open-book to be better practiced for the exam. I'm Y12 btw
Sorry you've not had any responses about this. :frown: Are you sure you've posted in the right place? Here's a link to our subject forum which should help get you more responses if you post there.

Hi! Im also in year 12 and whilst i dont do any particularly essay based subjects so its a bit different ill give you by input in case its of value!
I think that if youre writing an essay on what you’ve only just learned in class (like the week you’ve learned it) then theres no real harm in using your class notes and making the essay open book. Obviously try and remember as much as you can but refer back to notes when youre missing some info or you dont feel confident.
Then maybe make some resources and review the content over the next few weeks. If youre then given an essay a few weeks after you’ve learnt the content you should try and do it closed book as you’ve had time to memorise the content and practice in your own time.
That’s just how id do it- that worked for me at gcse and is what im continuing to go my into my a levels in biology especially! Hope that helps, have a great day 🙂
