Subject requirements for AP exams from USA

Hi,
I’m finding the A level to USA qualifications confusing.

I want to apply to UCL for psychology.

Their A’ level requirement is
A*AA to include two from biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics & psychology.

It says USA equivalent is;
AP results 5,5,5,5,4 in five distinctive AP subjects or
5,5,5,5 and 1280 SAT
Then it says refer to A levels for subject requirements.

That’s fine, but what confuses me is does that mean the 5,5,5,5,4 has to be in biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics & psychology or does it mean two of those APs must be from that list, like it only asks from two from the subject list for ALevel???

Hi i’m not entirely sure but i would assume you wouldn’t need all 5 of the subjects but at least 2.
I reckon you would be safe if you have 3/4 of those subjects but if you are definitely applying to UCL then i would send their admissions team an email and ask them as they will know the answer and can help you

When applying to UCL for psychology, the A-level requirement of A*AA in specific subjects means that they want you to have strong grades in those areas. For the USA equivalent, they are looking for high scores in Advanced Placement (AP) exams. The requirement of 5,5,5,5,4 in five distinct AP subjects means you need to score at least a 5 on four of the exams and at least a 4 on one. The mention of "refer to A levels for subject requirements" suggests that at least two of these AP subjects should be from biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, or psychology, similar to the A-level requirements. So, you should aim to take AP exams in at least two of those subjects and achieve the required scores. If you have any more questions, it might be helpful to contact UCL's admissions office directly for clarification. Good luck with your application!
It’s the same as the AL requirement. You must have at least two subjects from that list.

You should also check their USA prospective student pages for what they consider distinctive APs. There are several Physics APs but you can't use more than 2 to meet the 5 AP requirement. Similarly Maths means either Calculus AB and BC but you can't use both to meet the 5 AP requirement.
