🎀GYG-Academic victim to Academic weapon A-level 2024-2026🎀

Hi, I'm in Y12 and currently taking Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and Core maths my goal is to be more consistent with my studies and build discipline and also achieve AAA-ABB in my mocks I haven't done tests for other subjects but in Chemistry I got an E in my Amounts of Substance Test and D in Core Maths. Although I experience challenges with my mental health that make it harder for me to be consistent hopefully throughout the year I am able to improve these grades and find people who are on the same journey as me. If you have any tips please share them!

Hi! Welcome to GYG 🙂 Im also in year 12 and doing Maths, Physics, Biology and starting an epq next week. I wish you the best of luck with year 12!
Btw for revision so far Ive been using CGP books, Seneca and Cognito plus making flashcards on StudySmarter- I recommend all of them but as i dont do chem i dont know how they are for that. What exam board are you for biology out of interest? Im doing OCR
Hope you’re kinda enjoying year 12 thus far, what’s your favourite subject a half term in?
I also have a GYG (Link here) so if you want to follow mine you can do. We can do this!

Cool! How you feeling about the test? I did one just before half term and im really pleased because I managed to get 34/40 (one of if not the highest in my class i think) so im very happy with that ofc. It was on half the bio molecules content plus the topics on cell biology and enzymes. Best of luck with your test tomorrow! I hope Seneca comes in handy 🙂

I'm feeling ok about the test but during the half term I spent too much time revising carbohydrates 😭

Today I have Biological Molecules test and I have made a made mind map and during the half term I did flashcards and some past paper questions but only managed to complete Carbohydrates and Lipids so in future ill try to do flashcards frequently during the term so I don't feel overwhelmed by the amount I have to do. I underestimated the amount of content I needed to learn😭

Tuesday 5th November
Started a new topic in Biology Cells!

30 minutes on Anki flashcards on Cell structure

15 mins reviewing Chemistry Bonding and structure flash cards

50 mins Practice Amounts of Substance questions

30 mins Anki Flashcards Psychology

30 mins Past paper questions Psychology

Quite productive today! A new tip I learned to not get bored/tired hen doing flash cards is to alternate flash cards and practice questions now I find doing flashcards more manageable

Update Tuesday 19th November
I got D on my Biology test which was not great but I know what to do to improve
I haven't been as consistent with keeping up with my work because of my mental health and the fact that I got a new job working 3 days a week but now I am trying to get back into a routine.

Here is what I did today

Biology Past paper questions -45 mins

Chemistry Flash cards bonding and structure- 30 mins

Chemistry Past paper questions on acids -30 mins

Blurting Chemistry notes on sections of content I am not comfortable with -1hr

Hi guys! I don't know what boards you all do since ive skimmed past this but i have bought a-level resources for both bio and chem (+ sum of my friends in there) which you are all free to share with whomever!

It contains bio w/ olivia notes - as a 2025 bio student I found that she actually predicted some of the questions in her notes (usually the non-coloured boxes/common mistakes infos) and her notes have realistically every info you need for biology AQA.
If it's not enough, there are CGP based notes on there too as well as active recall sheets and ppts.

For AQA chemistry there are ppt slides + stemmup flashcards (i'd rly recommend going thru them as they're ms points). Cant give too much advice for chem since im currently failing it (i didnt revise lol so PLS start revising chem if u havent, it is not a crammable subject).

For psych (AQA) i'd also recommend

p3 - gender, sz, issues and debates

Just understand the content and memorise the AO3 word for word, you'll be fine. For other p3 optional subjects, i'd rly recommend asking chatgpt to create 16 mark essay for each topic (e.g for rs '16 mark essay on equity theory') since it'll summarise the notes into 2 paras which are A. great for 16 mark essay and B. great for understand and you won't be overwhelmed by content.

heres the pink haired AQA psych A2 textbook (pls buy both the textbooks, so cheap and so good!!)
