Interested in Data science

Would it be advised to undertake these online courses at the same time as pursuing my Bachelors in Biomedical science right now or wait some time? Im in first year And how does one usually end up getting a job inData Science, ive heard about banks hiring them andmaybe even NHS?

It’s a great idea to be thinking ahead about career pathways in data science, especially alongside your Biomedical Science degree! Balancing online courses with your first year might be doable if you’re comfortable with your current workload, but first-year can be a busy adjustment period, so easing in slowly might be wise. Many students find that waiting until later in the year, or even second year, lets them get a solid foundation before adding in extra information.

As for entering data science, especially from a Biomedical Science background, there are a lot of exciting opportunities, including in finance, healthcare, and even fields like the NHS. Banks, research institutions, and health agencies are actively recruiting data scientists to analyse large sets of data and help make strategic decisions. Having a background in Biomedical Science could be a great advantage in healthcare-focused data science roles, such as bioinformatics or clinical data analysis.

Also, Salford’s Careers and Employability Service can be a huge help here. They offer guidance on exploring different career paths, plus they have resources and workshops on applying for roles, improving CVs, and preparing for interviews. Many universities offer similar support, so it’s worth checking out what’s available to help shape your career plan and refine your application skills as you go along.
