Help towards securing laptop with DSA

Hello

I have been accepted on dsa and am due to get a laptop from there. My issue is the £200 you are required to pay. I’m absolutely useless with money so 90% of my student loan had to get spent on clearing debts and left me with nothing. Now I’m struggling to scrape together £200 to buy the laptop I need to complete my work.

I was wondering if there was any help available to help secure this at all? It’s not the end of the world if not I’ll just stick to the old school pen and paper.
Laptop aside, where are you now with your debts? Have you anything else that is nuilding up interest or you could be chased to pay? Are you able to attend uni and cover other essentials, like food?

Have you got a budget planned? How long might it take you to save towards a laptop?

My finances are in better order. I cleared them with the first part of my student loan. I get a small amount of money to cover essentials like food etc so that isn’t an issue at the minute but I’m left with nothing to help towards saving.
You could ask student services at your uni if they have a hardship fund, as you are low on funds at the bank if your uni does this they might well consider you for such a payment?

Do you have an overdraft or credit card you could use, but would they be an issue to pay off?

How long is the offer of a laptop available and might you be able to take it up when you get another student finance payment?

@Obeee1

Have a word with Student Services at your University if you are having financial troubles, most providers, even small ones have a Hardship Fund of which you can apply for.

One of the best things I learnt at University was how to budget, it takes time, but it is a useful life skill. There is a good UCAS article on student budgeting here
