Education Mental Health Practitioner to Educational Psychologist?

I am due to graduate next year with an undergraduate degree in child and adolescent mental health. It is not BPS accredited.

I have considered doing the PGDip Education Mental Health Practitioner programme which is BPS accredited.

My long term career goal, however, is to become an Educational Psychologist. 'To be considered for a place on a doctorate training course you must have a first degree (i.e. a BA or BSc or equivalent qualification) in psychology which has been accredited, or is recognised, by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as giving eligibility for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the BPS (GBC). If your first degree is not in psychology, you may be able to undertake an approved 'conversion course' that will give you eligibility for GBC. Alternatively, you could read for a psychology-based Masters degree.' - Taken from Association of Educational Psychologists website.

Any ideas if the EMHP counts as a BPS accredited course which will make me eligible for a doctorate programme in Educational Psychology? Or will I need to do a conversion or Masters?

Thanks in advance

Whilst a Educational Mental Health Practitioner PGDip may be BPS-accredited, it will not confer eligibility for GBC (Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the BPS). Is therefore would not be sufficient to allow entry to an HCPC-approved doctoral programme.

You can see a list of conversion courses with are accredited by the BPS, and which confer eligibility for GBC on the BPS web site here (select Conversion Programme and an Accreditation Status of Currently Accredited).

Thank you so much for your help! I thought this may be the case, just glad to have it confirmed 🙂
