does anyone know how getting put onto a permanent contract works? i haven’t started yet, i’ve only just got the phone call offering the job and i’ve accepted on the website. but i was wondering if i need to ask about getting put on a permanent contract or if they just offer it to you near the end of your temporary contract if they want to keep you on?

Hi
Congratulations on your job offer with Tesco.

So as you are a temporary staff member for Christmas period ( have you been given a date for when your temporary contract ends ?).
Generally what usually happens with temporary staff membership is that you will hopefully have a meeting with your store manager around a week prior to your temporary contract ending - it's like a appraisal meeting when your manager will go through with you how you done over the xxx weeks you have been working with them ( they'll get further information from your team leader, supervisor etc, also check your attendance record to see if you had any days off sick, time keeping and you getting on with others). Nothing to worry about with that as it's standard procedure okay. After going through this with you then they will either tell you that they are offering you a permanent contract or sorry we are not.

If you have given the Tesco store you applied to your sizes for uniforms etc then they might have it for you when you attend your induction day ( normally you do your uniform ordering at the induction day and should be available for you for your first starting day ).

If you haven't done anything regarding ordering uniform yet then you'll do it on your induction day as well as all your necessary parts that is required ( national insurance, bank details, right to work documents 😔 take those things with you to your induction day okay ).

Hope this helps you 😌 😌 🙏

Team leader and stand in supervisor as required with Tesco.
