Do I get lawyer involved?

I transferred from my old university to a new one and Student Finance England wasn't advised.
I contacted my new university to let them know they need to take action but I've just been receiving vague emails and lately they have not been answering me at all.

This is worrying, it's November and my university will most likely remain silent until it's time for me to pay where they'll directly ask me.

Should I just contact an educational lawyer for this? I really am not going to pay £9250 for something my uni should have dealt with ages ago.
Isn't the onus on your old uni rather than the new one? (If they are the ones that made the error)

I was of the impression the student needs to arrange the administrative side of their own student finance, and you notify SFE of changes.
As far as your new university is concerned isn’t it your responsibility to arrange fees to them, they are unrelated to your previous studies and loans.

I have contacted my old uni and they will straight up refuse to say anything to SFE

I obviously have done all of that. I have arranged my transfer months ago and SFE changed it back on its own demanding this is something my new uni needs to do, not me

Well you need to submit a formal complaint if they’ve made an error. I don’t really know what your current uni can do about it.

The usual way to go about this is that, if my old uni won't contact SFE, then my new uni has to. (They even themselves told me this is how it is done). But after emailing me a bit to sort this out, they just stopped talking to me

Well then you need to make a formal complaint to your new uni too.
