Y11 with dream of going to oxford

Hi! I'm in year 11 and I have eventual dreams of studying PPE (politics, philosophy, economics) at oxford to become a human rights journalist/barrister. I was wondering if there is anything I could start to do to strengthen my chances of getting into oxford.
Qualifications/what I already have:
- 11 GCSES (including triple science and taking German a year early achieving a grade 9)
- student council
- MUN
- Volunteering at a local charity shop
- Working at my synagouges sunday school every other week
- I also am in the process of applying to a journalism program

GCSE grades/aspirations:
My school has given us a predicted (what they think we can get) and aspirational grade (what we can get if we work to the best of our ability) as of october. For predicted this is all 7's with a few 8's and aspirational all 8s with a few 8+ (essentially meaning 9).
The grades I would like to come out with are 9's in english lit + lang, history, spanish, citizenship (GCSE equivalent of politics) and 1 science, 8s in 2 other sciences, maths, 7 in DT (I couldn't care less about this subject I just want a decent grade to not bring my average down).
At A-Level I plan on taking german, english lit, history and politics (the main sixth forms I'm applying to are woodhouse and camden school for girls).

I was wondering if there are any opportunities/extracurriculars I could do to add more to my CV or just things in general?
Sorry for all the info but help would really be appreaciated!

Just a heads up, it’s recommend by Oxford university that you take A-level maths for PPE. I’m not sure how much of a requirement it is for admissions, but it’s worth looking into

As a PPE Oxford applicant, I've looked at the statistics. 97% of A-level offer holders had maths. The economics courses can be very mathematical, also the philosophy (logic) and politics (which has a large emphasis on statistics) sections.

Perhaps you'd prefer doing History + Politics OR History + Modern Languages (German)? Both can help you become a barrister (law conversion), and politics must help with human rights activism? German would probably help with both as well, because you'd be able to get research positions, or go into the civil service. Look into this tho, because I'm just going off of knowledge I have from stumbling across some reading/ hearing about it from some friends.

As others have said i highly recommend taking Maths as it is highly recommended and going to a top college/sixth form will help prep you for oxford. Also it seems you are near North London so I recommend ICS/City of London Academy Highgate Hill (plug) as i go there and our Oxbridge offer rate is 50% but ur gces seem fine.

50% Oxbridge offer rate is wild! Does your school restrict people from applying?

not really honestly but you have to be applying for the right reasons not for prestige etc. We have a whole programme for it starts in year 12 so now. Honestly just make sure you attend a good sixth form/college woodhouse may be good if ur self driven independent and if for eg u want diff subjects

Thank you I will look into it! I think i’ll look into other courses at oxbridge that don’t need maths a level as it’s something i’m really not interested in doing but thanks anyways!!

if you want to do human rights journalism/become a barrister why not try philosophy and law or go for an alternate degree with a law conversion course

yeah i’m really considering it because it has really good oxbridge courses according to some people i know that go there. also i like the fact it’s more independent which would prepare me more for uni. csg also has lots of oxbdrige things too though according to my parents so
i’m considering going there because it’s much closer than wood house and my parents really want me to

yeah i’d definitely want to do a law conversion course because i’m leaning more toward journalism currently career wise so i’d want to keep my options open and not have to go straight to law school.

Honestly whatever is a perfect fit for you apply for. I stress this so much as well dont matter what your parents want because you will sit those a levels. Whatever is good for you apply for full stop but those are good schools. Even tho I am bias I highly recommend you checkout City of London Academy Highgate Hill attend the open evening and check it out atleast.
