Withdrawing from NHS masters to start different NHS masters?

Hello, I’m a few months into an NHS masters but sadly the commute is two hours there and back and my childcare plan isn’t working out due to my mother going through some sudden health complications right now.

I’ve found another NHS masters based at my local city and I’ve been offered a place. Meaning i wouldnt have to rely on anyone for childcare as I’d always be 20 minutes away from home and the times fit around after school clubs ect.

If I withdraw before January- would I be funded by SFE again? As I know NHS masters run differently to postgraduate loans as they’re funded similarity to the undergraduates.

Thank you

Hi there,

Just to check, are you currently receiving undergraduate funding for this course? So, you're getting the Tuition Fee and Maintenance Loans?

Thanks, Graeme

Hi yes I am as I’ve been told the pre reg master for NHS are funded differently to the typical postgraduate masters. Apparently they run similar to undergrad.

Just to add I’ve already got an undergraduate degree. The course I’m on now the speech and language therapy masters. Thanks.
Hi there. What is the name of the new course you are looking to transfer to and when does it start? Thanks,Leah.

It will be the university of Liverpool if I change all I want to know please is if I can withdraw from my currently course which I am only three months into and still get funding for the new one thanks
Yes, this course is an exception course, so we don't take your previous study into account. Your current university will need to withdraw your current application with us and you will need to reapply on a new applicaiton (PN1) and post this in. It won't let you do this online due to it being within the same Academic Year. Thanks, Leah.

So even though this course I’m on now (speech and language) is also an exception course as it’s also a pre reg masters NHS …. This doesn’t matter? I can still be fully funded for the new one?
Yes, that's correct. Thanks, Leah.
