Is a mathematics degree worth it?

I really enjoy maths and have done really well in my nat 5 course and I’m hoping to do it in higher as well. Is doing a math degree in uni worth it? I’m not sure what jobs I could get with it because the thing I enjoy about math isn’t the applied part. If anyone is currently taking that course or planning to pls give me an opinion!!

It’s a highly respected degree because of the intellectual ability and analytical skills that are associated with it. A degree is a gateway in to many different jobs too

IMO the only degree that is probably objectively “useful” for job employment is med/dentistry if you really look at it because of how easy u can get jobs. But when I asked the same things to my teachers they said it’s about how you use your time during the degree like going to different societies, choosing modules related to careers, internships networks etc.
no one knows for sure how the job market will be when we graduate it’s even possible (maybe) ai will start taking jobs by then
If you love math for its own sake, a math degree could be awesome for you. In terms of jobs, a math degree is super flexible. You could go into research, data science, finance, cryptography, or even tech—basically, anywhere that values logical thinking and problem-solving. And if you’re curious, go to open days at university and have a chat with the students and lecturers to get a deeper understanding. If math excites you, it’s definitely worth considering.
